With the festive hashtag #HighwayRocks70, Highway Transport is not only celebrating a 70th Anniversary, but also enjoying the purchase of 75 new Mack Trucks. The model is the new Mack Anthem.
NOTE: Many people in the trucking industry refer to Highway Transport as “Highway.”
Highway’s overall fleet is a blend of 309 Mack Pinnacles equipped with Mack® mDRIVE™ automatic transmission. The pinnacles have been in the fleet since 2013. The 75 Mack Anthems are being added throughout 2018. “We are excited about putting our new Anthems on the road,” says Larry Edwards, Highway Transport’s vice president of fleet and maintenance.
“Having this equipment goes a long way toward helping us recruit top tanker trucking talent,” adds Joe Sheldon, Highway’s director of linehaul and recruiting. “Mack® trucks are not only durable for hard tanker trucking use, but we equip the Anthems with a lot of features drivers enjoy. Logistical planning is so much more sophisticated today. Routes are intentionally designed to provide runs preferred by family-minded drivers. Highway Transport’s service centers are strategically located so that drivers enjoy more home time than ever. System drivers are at the heart of Highway’s growth strategy. The new Mack Anthems are being allocated to system drivers. Drivers who are willing to run throughout Highway Transport’s system are greatly rewarded.”
Joe adds “I recently received the following feedback from Highway system driver, Alen Smailovic.”

There is, therefore I am!
I could just write: Thank you, and I just did! But sending you some of the photos from my first week in new truck would just do it more justice. I just finished polishing the rims and waxing while waiting in Kankakee for my next run. Joe, I am glad we talked few months back, things are improving [at Highway] and I am part and witness of it. We have a good thing going here and I hope many of us would see it that way.

Mack Anthem sleeper
Truck: within first 3000 miles truck is getting 6.7 mpg (6.5 on the previous truck), comfortable seat & mattress make for softer ride, quicker recovery time. I have been getting thumbs up from fellow drivers, fists bumps from other truckers (while fueling) on the truck looks. So, I truly appreciate it. Take great care, Joe!
