HOT is an acronym for the new “Highway Organizational Training” which is scheduled to take place in 3-day sessions held throughout 2017 and 2018. For the very first “HOT” session, employees from all company locations nationwide gathered at Highway Transport corporate headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee for face-to-face interaction with company leaders. Department presentations throughout the 3-day session provided a review of different elements of the tanker trucking business.
Highway Transport HR facilitates the 3-day professional development event to strengthen the company for long-term success. Participants enjoy the opportunity to familiarize themselves with each department and how they function.
Putting a face and a name and knowing who does what is very important, especially when our company is spread out across the United States at 11 different service centers.
The event kicked off with an evening meet & greet hotel reception for all participants to join those who traveled from Highway Transport Croydon. Day one was filled with presentations in rapid succession followed by an evening at Copper Cellar West hosted by brothers Chip & Greg Watkins, Highway Transport Chairman and Co-chair.
On day two, the momentum continued with short departmental overviews. Departments worked hard to make sure their presentations were short and sweet. We purposely designed HOT to just hit the high points, to not go in-depth. Condensing information down was not an easy feat . Departments are to be congratulated for their work to keep information condensed.
On day two we did a catered-in working lunch in order to keep rolling along with presentations; then we had a casual burger night nearby at Calhoun’s on Bearden Hill with Greg Watkins + the following company leaders: Marshall Franklin and Joe Sheldon. Final presentations (and lots of leftovers) carried the group to the finale on the morning of Day 3.
At the conclusion of “HOT,” employees were given a hot pepper to commemorate their time at corporate headquarters. “Actually, the pepper is a foam stress-ball type of material…a stress-pepper, so to speak ha ha!” adds Jean Anne.
